Rabokki is a popular Korean street food that combines spicy rice cakes (tteokbokki) with instant noodles. It’s bold, flavorful, and perfect for a filling snack or meal!

200g Korean rice cakes (tteok)

1 pack instant ramen noodles (any brand)

100g Korean fish cakes (optional, sliced)

1 boiled egg (optional)

1 green onion (chopped)

1½ cups water or anchovy broth
Sauce:

1½ tbsp gochujang (Korean chili paste)

1 tbsp gochugaru (Korean chili flakes)

1 tbsp soy sauce
-
1 tbsp sugar

1 tsp garlic (minced)

Prepare rice cakes:
Soak rice cakes in warm water for 10–15 minutes if they’re hard or refrigerated. -
Mix the sauce:
In a bowl, combine gochujang, gochugaru, soy sauce, sugar, and minced garlic. -
Cook the sauce:
In a large pan or pot, add water or anchovy broth and the mixed sauce. Stir and bring to a boil. -
Add rice cakes and fish cakes:
Once boiling, add the soaked rice cakes and fish cakes. Cook on medium heat for 6–8 minutes until the rice cakes soften. -
Add ramen noodles:
Add the instant noodles (without the seasoning packet) and cook for 2–3 minutes, stirring well to coat the noodles in the sauce. -
Add toppings:
Add boiled egg and chopped green onions. Cook for another minute until everything is well combined and sauce thickens. -
Serve hot:
Serve immediately while hot and enjoy the perfect balance of chewy, soft, and spicy goodness!
