🍗 Barbecue Chicken Recipe

Classic Barbecue Chicken Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 4 chicken thighs or drumsticks (with skin on)

  • 1 cup barbecue sauce (store-bought or homemade)

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp smoked paprika

  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • Optional: fresh parsley or cilantro for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the chicken: Pat the chicken pieces dry with paper towels. Drizzle olive oil over the chicken and rub evenly.

  2. Season the chicken: Sprinkle garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper all over the chicken. Make sure each piece is well coated.

  3. Preheat the grill: Heat your grill to medium-high heat (about 375°F / 190°C).

  4. Grill the chicken: Place the chicken on the grill skin side down. Cook for 6-8 minutes without moving to get nice grill marks.

  5. Flip and baste: Turn the chicken over and brush the barbecue sauce on the skin side. Continue grilling for another 6-8 minutes.

  6. Repeat basting: Flip the chicken back over and brush more barbecue sauce on the other side. Cook for 4-6 minutes or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) and is cooked through.

  7. Rest and serve: Remove chicken from the grill and let it rest for 5 minutes. Garnish with chopped parsley or cilantro if desired. Serve with extra barbecue sauce on the side.

Tips:

  • You can use boneless chicken breasts or thighs as well, adjusting cooking time accordingly.

  • If you don’t have a grill, you can bake the chicken in the oven at 400°F (200°C) for 25-30 minutes, basting with sauce halfway through.

  • Serve with coleslaw, corn on the cob, or your favorite side dishes.
