Classic Barbecue Chicken Recipe
Ingredients:
-
4 chicken thighs or drumsticks (with skin on)
-
1 cup barbecue sauce (store-bought or homemade)
-
2 tbsp olive oil
-
1 tsp garlic powder
-
1 tsp smoked paprika
-
1/2 tsp black pepper
-
1/2 tsp salt
-
Optional: fresh parsley or cilantro for garnish
Instructions:
-
Prepare the chicken: Pat the chicken pieces dry with paper towels. Drizzle olive oil over the chicken and rub evenly.
-
Season the chicken: Sprinkle garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper all over the chicken. Make sure each piece is well coated.
-
Preheat the grill: Heat your grill to medium-high heat (about 375°F / 190°C).
-
Grill the chicken: Place the chicken on the grill skin side down. Cook for 6-8 minutes without moving to get nice grill marks.
-
Flip and baste: Turn the chicken over and brush the barbecue sauce on the skin side. Continue grilling for another 6-8 minutes.
-
Repeat basting: Flip the chicken back over and brush more barbecue sauce on the other side. Cook for 4-6 minutes or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) and is cooked through.
-
Rest and serve: Remove chicken from the grill and let it rest for 5 minutes. Garnish with chopped parsley or cilantro if desired. Serve with extra barbecue sauce on the side.
Tips:
-
You can use boneless chicken breasts or thighs as well, adjusting cooking time accordingly.
-
If you don’t have a grill, you can bake the chicken in the oven at 400°F (200°C) for 25-30 minutes, basting with sauce halfway through.
-
Serve with coleslaw, corn on the cob, or your favorite side dishes.
