Classic Hawaiian Poke Bowl Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 300g fresh sushi-grade tuna or salmon, diced

  • 2 cups cooked white rice or brown rice

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp sesame oil

  • 1 tsp honey or maple syrup

  • 1 tsp rice vinegar

  • 1 green onion, thinly sliced

  • 1 tsp toasted sesame seeds

  • 1 small cucumber, thinly sliced

  • 1 avocado, diced

  • 1/2 cup shredded carrots

  • Optional: seaweed salad, pickled ginger, or sliced radishes for topping

Instructions:

  1. Make the marinade: In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, sesame oil, honey (or maple syrup), and rice vinegar.

  2. Marinate the fish: Add the diced tuna or salmon to the marinade. Toss gently to coat well. Let it sit in the fridge for at least 15 minutes.

  3. Prepare the rice: Cook rice according to package instructions and let it cool slightly.

  4. Assemble the bowl: Divide the rice into serving bowls. Top with marinated fish, sliced cucumber, diced avocado, shredded carrots, and green onions.

  5. Add toppings: Sprinkle toasted sesame seeds over the bowl. Add optional toppings like seaweed salad or pickled ginger if desired.

  6. Serve immediately: Enjoy your fresh and healthy poke bowl!

Tips:

  • Use fresh, sushi-grade fish for best taste and safety.

  • You can swap tuna or salmon for cooked shrimp or tofu for a different twist.

  • Add a drizzle of spicy mayo or sriracha for some heat.
