A delicious and flavorful dish that's perfect for lunch or dinner. This version combines juicy chicken with fragrant rice cooked in a savory broth.


📝 Ingredients:
For the Chicken:


  • 500g chicken (with bone or boneless)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tbsp oil


For the Rice:

  • 2 cups basmati rice
  • 1 onion (sliced)
  • 1 tbsp butter or oil
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 4 cups chicken stock (or water + 1 stock cube)
  • Salt to taste


Optional Garnish:

  • Spring onions
  • Fried onions
  • Cucumber slices


🍳 Instructions:

Step 1: Marinate & Cook Chicken

  • In a bowl, marinate chicken with salt, pepper, soy sauce, and ginger garlic paste. 
  • Heat oil in a pan, sear the chicken until golden brown.
  • Add a little water and simmer until chicken is cooked through. Set aside.


Step 2: Cook the Rice

  • Wash the basmati rice and soak for 15 minutes.
  • In a large pot, heat butter or oil. Add cumin seeds and sliced onion.
  • Sauté until onions are golden.
  • Add rice and mix for 1–2 minutes.
  • Pour in chicken stock, season with salt, and bring to a boil.
  • Cover and cook on low for 15–20 minutes until rice is fluffy.


Step 3: Combine

  • Layer the cooked chicken on top of the rice.
  • Cover for 5 minutes to let flavors blend.


Step 4: Serve

  • Plate the rice and chicken.
  • Garnish with spring onions or cucumber slices.

Serve with chili sauce or garlic soy dip for extra flavor!
