Korean Bibimbap Recipe 🇰🇷



(Mixed Rice Bowl with Vegetables and Egg)

Bibimbap is one of Korea’s most famous and colorful dishes. It means “mixed rice” and is served as a bowl of warm rice topped with sautéed vegetables, a fried egg, spicy gochujang sauce, and sometimes meat. It’s healthy, tasty, and super satisfying!


📝 Ingredients (for 2 servings):

Base:

  • 2 cups cooked white rice (short-grain or jasmine)

Toppings:

  • 1/2 cup spinach (blanched and seasoned)

  • 1/2 cup bean sprouts (blanched)

  • 1/2 carrot (julienned and sautéed)

  • 1/2 zucchini (julienned and sautéed)

  • 4–5 mushroom slices (shiitake or button, sautéed)

  • Kimchi (optional)

  • 2 eggs (fried sunny-side-up)

  • 100g ground beef or sliced beef (optional)

For the Meat (if using):

  • 1 tsp soy sauce

  • 1/2 tsp sugar

  • 1/2 tsp sesame oil

  • 1 garlic clove (minced)

Gochujang Sauce:

  • 1½ tbsp gochujang (Korean chili paste)

  • 1 tbsp sesame oil

  • 1 tsp sugar or honey

  • 1 tsp vinegar (rice vinegar or apple cider)

  • 1 tsp water (to adjust thickness)

  • 1/2 tsp minced garlic (optional)

Garnish:

  • Toasted sesame seeds

  • Sesame oil (to drizzle)

  • Thinly sliced seaweed (optional)


👨‍🍳 Instructions:

Step 1: Cook the Rice

  • Cook rice and keep it warm.

Step 2: Prepare the Vegetables

  • Spinach: Blanch in hot water, squeeze out water, season with a pinch of salt and a few drops of sesame oil.

  • Bean Sprouts: Blanch and lightly season with salt.

  • Carrots, Zucchini, and Mushrooms: Sauté separately in a little oil with a pinch of salt.

Step 3: Cook the Meat (Optional)

  • Mix beef with soy sauce, sugar, sesame oil, and garlic.

  • Sauté in a pan until fully cooked.

Step 4: Make the Gochujang Sauce

  • Mix all sauce ingredients until smooth. Set aside.

Step 5: Fry the Eggs

  • Fry eggs sunny-side-up (or to your preference).

Step 6: Assemble the Bibimbap

  1. Place warm rice in a bowl.

  2. Neatly arrange the vegetables, meat (if using), and kimchi on top.

  3. Add the fried egg in the center.

  4. Drizzle a bit of sesame oil and sprinkle with sesame seeds.

  5. Serve with a spoonful of gochujang sauce on the side.
